“The Great Walk of Love” takes you to the first ever China AIDS Walk Great Wall hiking event which took place on 13 October 2012. People from all over the world and different backgrounds joined this hiking event for the same purpose: they do not want people living with HIV/AIDS to suffer from discrimination and misunderstanding; they do not want to see people living in fear because of a lack of HIV/AIDS knowledge and education; they all want to fight HIV/AIDS with us together.
By the end of 2011, there were 34.200.000 people living with HIV/AIDS worldwide and it was estimated that there were about 780.000 people living with HIV/AIDS in China. The continued spreading of HIV/AIDS is strongly related to the lack of knowledge among the public about HIV/AIDS. The China AIDS Walk emphasizes the physical participation of everybody to disseminate HIV/AIDS knowledge and transmit the China AIDS Walk hopes: by promoting the idea that everybody can and should try to contribute to the public good, we can change social misperceptions about HIV/AIDS and eliminate discrimination.
“The Great Walk of Love” shows the courage and enthusiasm of all the participants, and how much fun they had when contributing to the public well-being.
We hope you are inspired and are ready to become one of the China AIDS Walk 2013 participants! Check out more about the China AIDS Walk on www.chinaaidswalk.org
