“Men Talk Story” is a project launched in 2013 by Professor Fang Gang, head of the Institute of Sexualities and Gender Studies at the Beijing Forestry University and founder of the China White Ribbon Volunteers Network. The project is aimed at exploring how men can contribute to the combating of gender-based violence. Through media, documentary film and public debates, the project wants to help end gender-based violence and hegemonic attitudes involving gender inequality. The project aims to promote and strengthen social standards that are gender-sensitive and that are beneficiary to the development of healthy masculinities.
The film “Men Talk Story” features 10 male speakers who participated in the project. They talk about their activism and their experiences, and they share their thoughts on the social gender roles that are imposed on us, and that society expects us to play.
