On 31 July 2014, the Beijing Haidian Court started hearing a landmark case, in which gay man Xiao Zhen (alias) sued the Xinyu Piaoxiang psychological counseling center for violating his rights when giving him “sexual orientation rectification therapy”. He also sued Baidu for publishing ads regarding “gay conversion”.
To support Xiao Zhen in his rights defence actions, volunteers of Beijing LGBT welfare organizations engaged in performance art at the Court.
