On 9 August, the 9th Gay Games took off in Cleveland, US. More than 8000 athletes from over 50 countries took place in this major sports event.
Liu Shi was the only Chinese representative, and he participated in the Swimming Event.
On 12 August, Liu Shi won a silver medal in the 50m breaststroke event in the 18 to 24 category.
He thus delivered the best result ever for China in the Gay Games.
