On 15 December 2013, the third “China Rainbow Media Awards” ceremony was successfully held at the Guangzhou Donlord International Hotel for more than 20 national media institutions and many LGBT community friends. The awards are jointly organized by the Beijing Gender Health Education Institute and 11 other organizations, and is the first large-scale LGBT media awards event in China.
The Major Awards went to:
* Yangcheng Evening News: “Hello, Comrade!” – Best Magazine/Newspaper Report
* Sina Eladies: “90-year-old Chinese Super Gran supports Gay Grandson” – Best Online Report
* Tencent Video: “The Hidden World of Transgender Sex Workers” – Best Video Report
* Global Times: “On the Edge” – Best English Report
* Southern Metropolis Daily: “Hundreds of Parents of LGBT Write and Appeal to NPC to Revise the Marriage Law” – People’s Choice Award
This year’s “Special Contribution Award” was granted to Shang Wenjie.
